Why We Chose Quark Expeditions

We honestly cannot say enough good things about Quark Expeditions.

From the very beginning, they exceeded our expectations.

Traveling to Antarctica is not a normal vacation. There are so many moving parts, so many things that can change because of weather, and so many details that need to be handled correctly. From the flight to King George Island, to the Zodiac landings, to the daily briefings, lectures, meals, safety procedures, and everything in between, Quark made the entire experience feel incredibly well organized.

What impressed us most was the staff.

They were knowledgeable, professional, friendly, and genuinely passionate about Antarctica. You could tell that this wasn’t simply a job for them. Whether they were teaching us about penguins and whales, explaining glaciers and icebergs, driving the Zodiacs, checking landing sites, or helping us safely get on and off the boats, they made the experience so much more meaningful.

We also loved the size of the expedition.

With approximately 100 guests and around 100 crew members, it never felt crowded or impersonal. We weren’t traveling with thousands of people. We got to know the expedition team, we got to know other travelers, and it felt much more like we were all experiencing Antarctica together.

And then there was the food.

We certainly weren’t expecting to travel to one of the most remote places on Earth and eat as well as we did.

The meals were incredible.

Our cabin may have been small—two twin beds and a little bathroom—but everything we needed was there, and somehow that tiny ship became home while we were exploring one of the wildest places on the planet.

What we appreciated most, though, was how seriously Quark treated Antarctica itself.

This wasn’t just about taking tourists somewhere beautiful.

There was a real emphasis on education, safety, wildlife protection, and respecting the environment. From the daily lectures to the bird-flu precautions and disinfecting our boots before and after landings, we constantly felt reminded that we were guests in a very special and very fragile place.

They didn’t simply show us Antarctica.

They helped us understand it.

For a trip that we considered truly once-in-a-lifetime, choosing the right expedition company mattered tremendously.

And looking back, we would choose Quark again without hesitation.

If Antarctica is somewhere you are dreaming about visiting, we would absolutely recommend researching Quark Expeditions.

For us, they helped turn an incredible destination into one of the most unforgettable experiences of our lives.
